Course Overview

This course focuses on project management concepts and processes in line with the Association for Project Management (APM). These processes apply to any project that is related directly to business change irrespective of the organisation structure or environment. The content of this course is based entirely upon the APM Body of Knowledge, (APMBoK), which itself represents the topics in which professionals in project management should be knowledgeable and competent.

The training is delivered by a highly experienced APMP certified trainer, with participation by the delegates being integral to the learning process. By using activity and case study, delegates will explore project management issues via group discussion and practical application of key concepts.

The APMP syllabus covers a wide breadth of topics, from the essential management tools required to monitor and control a project through to the wider context in which the project is being managed in terms of social and environmental issues, finance, organisation, procurement and people management.

Prerequisites

All delegates must have a good understanding of the basic principles of project management.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will achieve the following:

•    Understand and manage projects in an effective manner;
•    Understand the relevant Project Documents for each stage of the project lifecycle;
•    Understand and control the relationship between the individual, team and task;
•    Use Monitor & Control mechanisms for effective project tracking;

Format

This course is a 5 day workshop with an exam on the final day. Topics are consolidated by practical exercises, which help the delegates to relate the subject areas to work based scenarios.
Delegates should be advised that they will be required to undertake individual assignments in the form of homework during the course and between the course and the examination workshop.

Course Objectives

This is an intensive and complete course with two main objectives:

·                To gain a solid understanding of Enterprise and Solution Architecture terms and practice, and

·                To prepare for two exams.

Both lecture and practical case-study sessions are held, and mock question are reviewed throughout. Delegates are provided with a revision programme to help them study in their own time, followed up by a group review. Two exams are taken at the end of the course.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to understand, and use in a practical way, the key terms and concepts of systems architecture, including:

·                The main roles and goals of architecture

·                An explanation of both Enterprise and Solution context and architecture

·                Techniques for describing architecture

Prerequisites

ISEB recommend up to six years experience of IS/IT work including contact with architects and architecture descriptions. Delegates are permitted to sit both the Intermediate and Practitioner exam in two consecutive sessions. However a pass in the practitioner exam can only be recognised if the delegate has also passed the Intermediate exam.

A reference model for this certificate has been published by BCS. Course Overview

During the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate delegates will gain a comprehensive grounding in the aspects of ITIL Service Management v3. Delegates will prepare for and sit the one hour, multiple-choice ITIL Foundation Certificate in Service Management v3 exam. The course consists of short lectures, exercises, discussions, examination technique training, mock examinations and culminates in an invigilated exam on the third day.

Target Audience

•      Individuals who require a basic understanding of the ITIL framework and how it may be used to enhance the quality of IT Service Management within an organisation.

•      IT professionals that are working within an organisation that has adopted and adapted ITIL, who need to be informed about and thereafter contribute to, an ongoing service improvement programme.

Prerequisites

There are no formal entry requirements although delegates should have a general awareness of IT and a basic understanding of the business environment.

Examination

The course ends with a one hour ‘closed book’ multiple-choice paper with 40 questions. The pass mark for this is 65%, 26 out of 40.
